How Can We Help?
Our therapists complete a comprehensive, personalized evaluation to assess your needs in order to establish a plan of care that is tailored to you or your loved one. Treatment may include education, strengthening exercises for dysphagia, modified diets, aphasia rehabilitation, cognitive therapy, speech compensatory strategies for intelligibility, voice exercises, and plenty of encouragement!
Depending on your specific needs, your therapist may suggest the following treatment options:
- Objective Swallow Assessment: We perform objective swallowing assessments to establish the safest consistencies of foods and liquids for patients to eat and drink in order to reduce the risk of aspiration.
- Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) with Vital Stimulation: NMES using VitalStim, along with traditional dysphagia treatment, retrains muscles needed for guarding against aspiration, or food and liquids entering your airway.
- Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT)-Loud: LSVT-Loud is a highly effective, evidenced-based speech therapy that improves communication and quality of life for Parkinson’s and other populations.
