Volunteer Opportunities
The Newberry County Hospital Foundation offers many opportunities for you to share your time and talent through our Volunteer Program. Our volunteers pride themselves on working together to provide a welcome and comforting atmosphere for patients, family members, visitors, and staff. The Volunteer Service Mission is to complement hospital staff in upholding the hospital’s mission of providing exceptional healthcare with a personal touch to all patients.
Adult Volunteers
The key to being a happy volunteer is to match your skills and interests to the needs of the hospital. If you enjoy meeting new people, you may want to be a patient liaison or greeter. If you’re an organizer, you would be perfect in an office setting. No matter what your particular skill, we will work with you to find the best place for your volunteer efforts. Here are the steps to becoming a hospital volunteer:
- Call Angela Bowers, the Volunteer Coordinator, to apply - 803.405.7130
- Interview with the Coordinator of Volunteer Services
- Have background and reference checks
- Meet with Employee Health
- Attend orientation
Community Volunteer
Community Volunteers help with crocheting or knitting baby coverlets and lap robes for patients. Our patients are very appreciative of these gifts of love! Yarn is supplied for those who need it.
Volunteer Clergy
Newberry Health is proud to have local pastors who volunteer to serve the community through our clergy program. Any pastor serving in Newberry or surrounding counties is eligible to participate. Pastors take calls for one week at a time to serve the needs of our patients. Our pastors have also participated in special events, such as "Blessing of the Hands" for our staff. Our pastors are credentialed the same as our non-clinical staff to provide security and peace of mind to our patients.
