Newberry Health Celebrates 100 Years of Caring for the Community

  • NH News, Press Releases

Newberry Health proudly marked a century of service on November 13th with a tented celebration held on the hospital grounds. The milestone event brought together local leaders, community partners, and supporters to honor 100 years of compassionate, award-winning care delivered right here at home.

The program featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Mayor Foster Senn, Senator Ronnie Cromer, South Carolina Hospital Association President and CEO Thornton Kirby, WIS News anchor Judi Gatson, Board of Trustees Chair Candace Frick, Chief Nursing Officer Meg Davis, and Newberry Health CEO John Snow. Their remarks reflected on the organization’s legacy while casting a vision for its future. In addition to the remarks – Newberry Health presented County Council with a plaque in honor of their leadership and service to the hospital. Senator Ronnie Cromer presented CEO John Snow, and Board Chair Candace Frick, with a certificate on behalf of the South Carolina State Senate in recognition of Newberry Health’s service, dedication, and commitment to the community.

In his remarks, CEO John Snow reflected on the deep roots and greater purpose of Newberry Health: “From the very beginning, Newberry Health has been more than a hospital — it’s been a gathering place for hope, healing, and connection. For generations, families have relied on us not just for medical care, but for the reassurance that comes from being treated with dignity, kindness, and respect. That spirit of care — that commitment to serving people, not just patients — is the heartbeat of our organization.”

While the celebration honored the past, the focus remained on the future — expanding access, elevating quality, and continuing to deliver award-winning care in the community Newberry Health is proud to serve.

As the organization moves into its second century, Newberry Health remains dedicated to delivering exceptional, local healthcare grounded in compassion, innovation, and community partnership.
